Trip Overview:

The Amazing Elephant Isle Conservancy and Babs' Camp

Saadani National Park is a unique and magical park. It is a great Tanzanian secret, wowing those lucky enough to visit, with its great beauty and diversity of activities available. It truly is the place where bush meets beach.

Enjoy our incredible tour with an unbelievable array of wildlife spotting opportunities, unique accommodation and unrivalled hospitality. If you are looking for a true African experience and an adventure you will be talking about for generations then look no further - Saadani and the Elephant Isle Conservancy is the place for you.

The Family Adventure Company works with Tent with a View – a local operator who created the Elephant Isle Conservancy from an area of intense wildlife activity that was previously outside the park and in need of protection. At the heart of this is Babs’ Camp – the base for your safari.

The area is home to large herds of buffalo and giraffe, which use the salt flats and coastal bush around its perimeter as safe havens from which to feed and drink, elephants feeding and wallowing, prides of lions with their cubs and turtles laying their eggs on the beaches.

We offer safaris by day and night in 4x4 vehicles, great walks to study animal behaviour, canoe rides, powered boat excursions out to snorkelling sites where turtles breed and a magnificent viewing platform "The Roof of Saadani" which also provides the main restaurant and bar facility for Babs’ Camp.

The rooms at Babs’ Camp are unique – they are working Land Rovers which convert into  extremely comfortable double storey homes, with elevated bedrooms with fantastic views, solar electricity, solar hot water, and a full bath. The ease with which these rooms can be set up allows them to be moved around the conservancy, at a very short notice, to wherever the wildlife action is best.

Then, spice up your life with flight across to the ‘Spice Island’ of Zanzibar. Take time to soak up the sun and lie back in the shade of a coconut palm, then get active with snorkelling or games along the pristine powder of the beach. With comfortable beachside accommodation, delicious meals and knowledgeable local guides, experience both the wild and laidback sides of Tanzania with a family trip to remember.
