Adventures in Malta

Holidays to Malta and its surrounding islands offers travellers in search of week long activity holidays a great European option; the combination of adventure, culture and relaxation at the crossroads of the Mediterranean being a hard one to beat.

Soak up the culture of Malta, exploring the diminutive yet bustling capital of Valletta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most concentrated historic areas in the world. A great way to discover its gems is with an organised tour, St John’s cathedral is an architectural masterpiece and the Grand Master’s Palace is also worth visiting. Soak up the amazing view from the Upper Barrakka Gardens, taking in the fortified cities of Senglea, Vittoriosa and Cospicua or perhaps take a harbour cruise. Alternatively visit pretty Marsaloxx and historic Mdina.

Extending your Malta holidays further, a short trip to the neighbouring island of Gozo is where the active adventure can really begin. The mountains and plains are ideal for cycle exploration and a 4WD safari across the isle provides stunning views of the surrounding Mediterranean Sea. Take to the water for a day swimming and snorkelling in the crystal clear sea around neighbouring Comino, before taking advantage of a change of pace and experiencing local tradition and culture for a day at the Ager Foundation. Gozitan shepherds still tend their sheep and goats in pristine countryside, and this project allows hands on involvement in the feeding and milking of the sheep as well as participation in the process of Gozitan cheese-making – a great chance to discover a different side of Malta holidays.

Family Holidays in Malta

Malta holidays are ideally suited to those looking for a family adventure. The warm Mediterranean climate makes it a great destination for summer sun, while the size of the islands themselves mean there are no long travelling days between activities. In addition to this, the country’s natural wonders are complimented by man made activities perfect for active families. Those looking for even more action and activity on Malta might enjoy visiting the Splash and Fun Water Park or exploring the Popeye village – a great day out, particularly for younger children.
